KEY CITY SELECT - Summer  2020

We will start offering practices on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:00 pm and Sundays from 4:15-5:15 pm at Washington Middle School from July 8 to July 29.

We will start in Phase 1 (see below(and work towards game play as allowed by our governing bodies).  If you wish to participate you will need to register and we will have a $25 fee for the July practices and fill out the appropriate registration and communicable disease waiver.  We will then have another registration once we have a better idea of how the fall will look.

Key City Select July 8th - 29th
DIVISIONS: U9 - U15, Boys & Girls
COST: $25

Here are the safety guidelines we will be following and will need everyone’s help with:

  • Teams will not intermingle and each age group team will have their own space and teams will not share equipment.
  • Coaches will have hand sanitizer that will be mandatory as kids show up and leave practice.
  • Parents / families will be required to stay in cars upon drop off and pick up (park in back Washington lot or along Lombard street).
  • All equipment will be sanitized between practices.
  • Bring own water bottles and no sharing of water bottles.
  • If known exposure to Covid-19 or show any symptoms it is essential that child does not attend practice for 14 days.
  • Coaches will be only people to touch cones, goals, etc…
  • No high fives, hugs, handshakes or deliberate contact.

Phase 1 – will be skill practices with all drills requiring 6 ft social distancing and no contact practices.

Phase 2 – when our governing body finds it appropriate, we will do move to Phase 2 which can include small sided games and physical contact as the sport allows during play, but down time (instruction, rest, etc…) will require social distancing.

Phase 3 – return to interclub competition allowed

Obviously, there are a lot of uncertainties and we don’t know how things look for the fall season or playing outside competition, so we will all need to be patient and flexible and we will be phasing in play with guidelines set forth by US Soccer.

I see a few possibilities going forward and the options are:

  1. We phase in practices and get back to a more normal season by this fall.
  2. We phase in practices and play “in house” games this fall (where we play among and against our own team members in a smaller sided setting (similar to pick up soccer or what we would do in practice. Maybe something similar to what we did last year with 3 v3 games is one idea.
  3. Some form of hybrid of options 1 and 2 where we play some league games and in house games.

US Youth Soccer age groups are based on birth year.  There is a chance some players will be asked to play up or could even play on multiple teams if needed.  Also, if an age group does not have enough players, we may ask two age groups to merge and play at the older age group.

Teams / Age groups will be defined accordingly for fall 2020:
U10 Boys – Born in 2011 or after U10 Girls Born in 2010 or after
U11 Boys – born in 2010 U16 Girls – born in 2005
U12 Boys – born in 2009
U13 Boys –born in 2008
U15 Boys – born in 2007, 2006 or 2005
