Middle School

Middle school soccer opportunities often lack compared to other sports and our goal is to build middle school soccer in Dubuque so these students have more chances to develop and grow a greater appreciation of the sport and that they may possibly continue in high school and stay participating as long as they want to.  Soccer should not be a sport that kids “grow out of”.
Our program is for all ability levels – advanced players to beginners.  We want more kids playing soccer.  We are having program the last 4 weeks of the school year to avoid conflicts with middle school track and field and to ensure better weather.  Better weather = more enjoyable soccer for everyone!

1 practice a week (Tuesdays) with league play will take place on Friday evenings. There will separate league divisions for boys and girls.  Coaches have extensive soccer experience and will teach the game at age appropriate level.  Our coaches also officiate and coach at the same time in order to teach the game.  The Key City Soccer League games will be on Friday evenings.

Why 3 v 3?

  • Need less players to form teams and allows us to have more teams.
  • Always involved in the play = allows for more player development.
  • More touches on the ball
  • Increased number of game related decision-making opportunities
  • Constant transition from attacking to defensive situations
  • Increased 1 vs.1 encounters in both attacking and defending situations
  • Increased opportunities to utilize specific ball skills
  • Increased opportunity to be in a goal scoring position
